Montgomery Hospice in Maryland is hosting a webinar to help healthcare professionals understand the role of medical cannabis in end-of-life care. Numerous studies show that hospice professionals overwhelmingly support the use of medical cannabis for hospice and palliative care patients. However, as the demand and acceptance of medical cannabis grows in end-of-life care, healthcare professionals – in particular, physicians – are unsure about how to handle requests for cannabis.
Dr. Geoff Coleman, medical director of Montgomery Hospice will be joined by Scott Robertson, laboratory director and Amanda Horodyski, associate laboratory director of Atlantic Test Labs for the one-hour webinar. Monica Escalante, CFO/CCO of Montgomery Hospice will moderate.
Objectives:
- Discuss how cannabis is used in end-of-life care
- Define barriers to using medical cannabis
- Explain concerns about clinical efficacy and safety
- Discuss differences between various strains of cannabis
This webinar qualifies for continuing education credit for social workers and towards Montgomery Hospice’s Certificate in End-of-Life Care. Questions? Contact Beza Gebrehana at BGebrehana@montgomeryhospice.org or 301-527-4092.
